Because heart disease is so very underdiagnosed in women, it is imperative that women be strongly urged by their internists or Ob-Gyns to be periodically screened. In addition, medical schools have to do a better job of training physicians to understand the unique symptoms and problems that women face, particularly when they are post menopausal and lose the HDL levels they had previously.
