I'm really skeptical of that little snippet...while caffeine may boost your metabolism temporarily, it is also a diuretic, not to mention that all the additives in sodas are harmful for your body. My opinion is still to just avoid caffeine as much as possible.

While I generally feel that caffeine is unhealthy, I recently read a little snippet somewhere that caffeine proponents are really hawking the benefits of caffeine for your metabolism. Namely, that if you consume a limited amount of caffeine every day, your metabolism increases a bit and helps you burn more calories (thus helping you to maintain a healthy weight, reducing your risk of Heart Disease).

is there any information out there that indicates that caffeine could serve as a cause (or an instigator) for heart disease?
